As part of the redevelopment of the City Camp program in 2015, we have embarked on an exciting new partnership with The Big Issue. Since Term 1 each of our visiting school camps have taken part in a workshop with the The Big Issue’s Classroom program. This program teaches students about homelessness and encourages them to think about the decisions and choices they make in life.
“We are thrilled to work with Doxa and give their campers an insight into the reality of homelessness, marginalisation and disadvantage in Australia,” said Danya Sterling, The Big Issue’s Manager of Education Enterprises.
“We believe it’s important to encourage students to challenge their perceptions and stereotypes about homelessness in an engaging, fun and educational way.”
This program has quickly become a favourite among students and teachers at the City Camp as they learn more about The Big Issue and the impact of homelessness in the community.
