Child Safe Commitment

At Doxa Youth Foundation, the safety, wellbeing and empowerment of children and young people are at the heart of everything we do.

For more than 50 years, we have provided camps, educational experiences and development opportunities that help young people thrive. We are committed to creating environments where every child feels safe, respected, valued and heard.

We have zero tolerance for child abuse, neglect, grooming, exploitation or any behaviour that places a child or young person at risk. We actively work to prevent harm and respond promptly and appropriately to any concerns about child safety.

Our commitment is guided by the Victorian Child Safe Standards and applies to all Board members, employees, volunteers, contractors and partners who engage with children and young people through Doxa programs and services.

We are committed to:

  • Promoting the cultural, emotional and physical safety of all children and young people.
  • Listening to and valuing the voices of children and young people.
  • Ensuring children understand their rights and know how to raise concerns.
  • Creating inclusive environments that respect diversity and support participation.
  • Recruiting, screening and training staff and volunteers to uphold child safety.
  • Maintaining clear policies, procedures and reporting processes.
  • Responding to concerns, complaints and incidents in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Continuously reviewing and improving our child safety practices.

We recognise that some children and young people face additional barriers to participation and safety. We are committed to supporting and respecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, children with disability, and children of all genders, identities and backgrounds.

Everyone at Doxa shares responsibility for keeping children safe. We encourage children, families, schools, staff and community members to speak up if they have concerns about a child’s safety or wellbeing.

Together, we can create positive, safe and empowering experiences for every young person who engages with Doxa.
