Making a real difference.
The Cadetship Program provides talented young people facing life challenges with the additional support they need to focus on and succeed in their university studies and professional career. The program provides peer connections, mentor support and a professional development program to help with students’ transition from high school to university . And the support Cadetship Sponsors provide through mentored industry placements is life changing. It provides these young people with the financial support, professional work experience, connections and mentorship they need to reach their full potential.
Here are just some of our cadet’s stories from final year students completing their placement with their sponsor organisation to first year students looking forward to their sponsored industry placement.

Cadetship Stories

Jasmine – Cadet at TH White & Co, Bachelor of Commerce, Melbourne University.
‘Doxa Youth Foundation Cadetship gave me opportunities I otherwise wouldn’t have experienced.
My mum is a child carer, and she immigrated here in the 80s with my dad who was a chef.
The cadetship and my placement with TH White & Co helped me build connections and networks with people who are part of something I want to work with in the future.’

Tran – Cadet at Pinsent Masons, Bachelor of Law, RMIT
‘It’s been a new experience but a positive one with Pinsent Masons and Doxa Youth Foundation by my side.
I have had the opportunity to work really closely with my mentor Lauren Cruickshank, Senior Associate, Pinsent Masons. She’s really set me up for success in my future.’

Saminah – Bachelor of Commerce, Melbourne University.
‘Having mentors and a support system in place has made me feel more confident and focused in my first year.
Originally from Afghanistan, I moved to Australia in 2015. I’ve faced many barriers that made staying focused on my studies difficult. The Cadetship provides me with the extra guidance and structure I need.
I am still exploring my options, but am interested in working in a corporate environment, possibly in internal operations, strategy or consulting.’

Eunise – Bachelor of Science, University of Melbourne.
‘The Doxa Youth Foundation Cadetship gives you a safe place to flourish so you can really do what you want to do one day.
I’m the only one in my family who has the same aspirations as me. No-one really went down the path that I wanted to go down. In the cadetship program you have a mentor and other people in my shoes to talk to and share experiences.
I like the unknown, I like challenges, something that is exciting and can change.’

Christos – Bachelor or Architecture, RMIT.
‘It just so valuable, the mentorship the program provides, and then being able to gain knowledge and experience in a professional work environment.
The program also brings me into contact with other students like me, transitioning from high school to university. After my cadetship I hope to one day be working in residential architecture and have my own firm.’
